FAA and Industry Partners Launch Drone Safety Campaign for the Masses

January 5, 2015 by Rob Farber Leave a Comment

Alarmed by increasing encounters between small drones and manned aircraft, drone industry officials said they are teaming up with the government and model aircraft hobbyists to launch a safety campaign. The FAA has been receiving about 25 reports per month this year of drones sighted flying near manned aircraft or airports, up from just a handful of reports two years ago. According to industry estimates about 1 million small drones were sold worldwide in 2013 for recreational and commercial use. Sales in 2014 are expected to be much higher.

More information can be found at http://knowbeforeyoufly.org/. The following video was released by the FAA to educate consumers.
